VH1 has announced plans to make a bio-pic about the group TLC, three women who came to define music all throughout the 1990s. The film is set to be the first of a series of stabs at the movie business that will be taken by the network.
The group consisted of Rozonda "Chilli" Thomas, Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins, and Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes. The group went on to sell millions of records and become a household name. Much of their fame also centered around the craziness of their personal lives.
Lopez first made national news after burning down the house that was owned by she and her boyfriend, Andre Rison, formerly of the Atlanta Falcons. She was later killed during a retreat to Honduras, a country she loved to visit in her spare time.
T-Boz made the news recently when it was announced that she has a series of physical ailments that could eventually take her life, including a brain tumor. Also, she was the victim of abuse by her former husband Dedrick Rolison, also known as the rapper Mack 10.
Chilli has had her own drama as well, spending years trying to find love on various reality shows, seeming to be the one beautiful woman who can never settle on just one man.
Chilli had this to say about the bio-pic:
“The reality of this brings me to tears because I am seeing one of my dreams come to life. I always felt our story had to be told. What makes it even more amazing is having Kate Lanier on board. I remember watching ‘What’s Love Got To Do With It’ with Lisa, and I knew then whoever wrote that story had to write ours."
