Your Black World reports:
Happy Born Day to the Queen of Rock-n-Roll, the incomparable Ms. Tina Turner!
Known for her big, booming voice, and lusciously long legs, Tina Turner, born Anna Mae Bullock to share-cropper parents in Nutbush, Tennessee, first blessed the world with her talent as the magnetic voice headlining the Ike and Tina Turner Revue in the 1960s with her ex-husband, the late Ike Turner.
The recipients of eight Grammy Awards and a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee, her unbelievable voice and infectious dance moves electrified audiences around the world. Her hit songs "River Deep, Mountain High, and "What's Love Got to Do With It" rose to the top of the Billboard Charts, but "Proud Mary" remains her signature song.
In her memoir, I, Tina, she revealed the abuse that she suffered at Ike’s hands during their marriage. Their volatile relationship received the big-screen treatment in What's Love Got to Do With It. Angela Bassett played Tina, and Laurence Fishburne played Ike Turner.
Through all her adversity, Tina Turner has stood the test of time, remaining one of the most beloved singers of her generation.
Happy Birthday, Tina, from the Your Black World Family!
