Tionne T-Boz Watkins is fighting for her life and her livelihood. She has struggled with sickle cell anemia for years, and this problem has been compounded by a brain tumor. Dr. Sanjay Gupta spoke with T-Boz about her ailments.
The Grammy Award winning singer shared with the audience that she has had sickle cell for her entire life and didn't expect to live past the age of 30. She was also told that she wouldn't be able to have children and would be disabled.
As a 39-year old woman, T-Boz has defeated the odds as soundly as her beautiful singing voice. She has a 9-year old daughter and has lived a relatively healthy life.
But in spite of being successful in overcoming her sickle cell, at least initially, T-Boz was later informed that she has a brain tumor. The tumor is benign because of her sickle cell. However, she is most likely going to have to get surgery. If the surgery doesn't go well, she can lose her hearing, balance, facial movements and speech.

She actually had this surgery two years ago and suffered from some temporary setbacks but survived. Im not really sure why this article doesn't reference the fact that this is not current information. But she is doing ok now. ReplyDeleteI saw the CNN episode. T-Boz stated that her balance is sometimes off but, other than that, the surgery was a success. She is a prime example of how not to let the doctors, or anyone else determine the quality of life that you live. Whose report are you going to believe? That of man or that of the Lord?? His Word states that by His Stripes we are healed!!! BTW - she looked great on CNN! May God continue to do a work in her life.
ReplyDeleteMaybe she needs to get better advice from people who do not rely on the meds/surge system. We all have the divine power to heal ourselves. Her food choices may have contributed to her health turning in this direction. ReplyDeleteI understand that doctor's have to give you sobering facts about what can go wrong, but that is not what WILL go wrong. With enough prayers and love from her immediate circle she can pull through....Why not hear that from some doctors, it has just as much probability as the other.
