A 3-year old girl and her 11-year old brother were taken hostage by their father this week in a Brooklyn apartment. The standoff with police lasted for a full four hours when the man locked himself in his apartment with the kids. The father was unarmed, but he would not open the door until police overpowered him and got the kids out to safety.
“He gave up inside the room. We had to go in and subdue him,” said one of the officers. “Kids are fine, father is fine. He’s going to the hospital to get checked out, and he’ll be arrested there.”
The mother was so traumatized that she also had to taken to the hospital for evaluation. “He would come and go whenever they were on speaking terms,”
said Ruth Ware, who lives below the mother. “He was not a nice man.”

HOW TERRIBLE AND HORRIFYING OF A FATHER TO TREAT HIS CHILDREN THIS WAY. THIS REMINDS ME OF THE MOVIE SCENE IN "FOR COLORED GIRLS ONLY" WHICH MADE ME CRY JUST TO WATCH IT UNFOLD KNOWING IN REAL LIFE THAT PEOPLE ARE LIKE THAT WHEN THEY LOSE SELF CONTROL! MY HEART AND PRAYERS GO OUT TO THEM!
Sometimes, it is better if the father is not around.
