Brilliant: 12-Year Old Girl Beats Cops at Solving Her Great Grandmother’s Robbery

Your Black World reports

12-year old Jessica Maples is the kind of kid that we can all be proud of.  The 7th grader signed up for a program being run by the Atlanta District Attorney’s Office.  The office expected that she was going to simply watch and learn, but Jessica did much more.

Applying some of the skills she’d picked up from police officers, Jessica investigated the robbery of her great grandmother’s house.  Using her newfound forensics capabilities, Jessica determined where the burglars entered the home (which police overlooked), and also tracked down her grandmother’s property at a local pawn shop.

After getting the address of the man who sold the property, Jessica went to his house, subtly questioned him and eventually obtained a confession.  During this interview with the CBS Early Show, Jessica explains how she figured that since the economy is bad, someone would probably sell the furniture rather than keep it.  The obnoxious host cuts her off at the end of the interview, but it is stunning nonetheless.

Young black genius at work.
